He write: “Article inspired by a human author and generated by ChatGPT” What does it mean?

The ChatGPT revolution has changed the way we interact with computers and opened up new possibilities in programming. One of the ways in which ChatGPT can contribute to the question of who actually authored something is through natural language analysis.

In the digital age in which we live, much information is generated and shared online. However, it is not always clear who the actual author of a given content is. This can create legal and liability problems, for instance in case of plagiarism or defamation.

ChatGPT is a natural language model developed by OpenAI that is able to generate text autonomously, without human intervention. The model was trained on a large corpus of text using an algorithmic approach known as ‘deep learning‘, which enabled it to acquire a deep understanding of its language type.

With this knowledge, ChatGPT can analyse the language of a given text and compare it with other texts written by the putative author. In this way, the model can determine whether there are significant similarities or differences between the various texts.

This type of analysis can be useful in establishing the actual author of a given text. For example, if there are doubts about the authenticity of an article published online, ChatGPT can analyse the text and compare it with other articles written by the alleged author. If the model detects significant differences between the two texts, it may suggest that the author is indeed different.

ChatGPT does the work that no one else would want to do in its place, accomplishing it in a very short time. It is a bit like resorting to the use of a calculator to avoid straining your mind to make overly complex calculations.

Of course, using ChatGPT to determine the author of a text is not an infallible method. The model may make mistakes, e.g. if the alleged author used a different writing style at a certain time or if the text was modified by a third party. However, the use of ChatGPT can provide a useful indication and a starting point for further investigation.

ChatGPT is an advanced natural language model, but it is not able to write articles independently without human intervention. Therefore, if someone wrote an article and added the sentence: “Article inspired by a human author and generated by ChatGPT”. It means that they used ChatGPT as a support tool during the writing process. For example, the person might have used the template to get suggestions of words or phrases to use, or they might have used the template to generate drafts of text which they then reworked and edited to create the final article.

In conclusion, it is important to know that in a hypothetical article intended for publication in a newspaper, magazine or any other media, it would not be written completely autonomously but rather with the help of ChatGPT, this in order to contribute to the dissemination of this technology and most probably also to significantly shorten the syntactic formalisation time, so as to generate a clearer and more fluent text.
